DNV has signed an MOU with Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), South Korea’s state-run gas corporation, to cooperate on research and development in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. Korea is the world’s second-largest LNG importer (imported 16.1% of LNG in global trade), next to Japan (40.7%) (based on 2008 data).

The conference was sold out; it was also essentially a PowerPoint-free zone; the basic format relied heavily on brief introductory remarks from sets of speakers representing the diverse stakeholders, followed by questions from attendees. We may well be as doomed as doomed can be already – as I frequently tell my friends that we are, and the “ Hell and High Water ” may already have arrived earlier then even Joe Romm’s dire predictions, but I’m not quite ready to cash in my chips and give up the ghost. I have shaken hands with the whirlwind.
