Tesla has reduced the prices of its vehicles in multiple key markets around the world, after the automaker cut prices in the U.S. On Friday, Tesla cut prices by around $2,000 across most of its lineup in the U.S. Tesla increased the price of the Model Y in the U.S. with the exception of the Model 3.

Lithium-ion battery pack prices, which were above $1,200 per kilowatt-hour in 2010, have fallen 89% in real terms to $132/kWh in 2021, according to a new report from BloombergNEF (BNEF). All prices are in real 2021 $, unless stated as nominal.) At the cell level, average BEV prices were just $97/kWh.

An influx of used EVs is causing prices to drop, particularly when it comes to used Teslas, according to new data from Recurrent. The company, which sells battery health reports for used EVs, also compiles quarterly reports on used EV prices using data from partner firm Marketcheck.

According to data released by Kelley Blue Book, a Cox Automotive company, the average transaction price (ATP) for a new vehicle in the United States in November 2022 hit a new record high of $48,681. November prices rose 0.9% ($422) month over month from October 2022 and were up 4.4% ($2,250) from year-earlier levels.
