The BMW Group has created a closed-loop material cycle for tungsten used in drill and milling bits for industrial machinery used in producing cars; the company is collecting old drill and milling bits at its plants in Germany and Austria for recycling. These drill and milling bits are already being used at BMW Group plants.

BMW investing €400M in new vehicle assembly at Munich plant as part of shift to electromobility; engine production being concentrated at Steyr and Hams Hall

The BMW Group is speeding up the shift towards electromobility and strengthening its global network for production of electrified vehicles. The combustion engines with four, six, eight and 12 cylinders produced there will be manufactured at the company’s locations in Steyr in Austria and Hams Hall in the UK going forward.

BMW orders two more ENGEL moulding machines for body shell components for i3 EV

BMW has awarded ENGEL Austria another contract to supply system solutions to BMW’s Leipzig factory, where ENGEL duo injection moulding machines are used to manufacture car body shell components for the BMW i3 electric vehicle. ENGEL delivered the first manufacturing cells of this type to Leipzig back in March 2013.

UK engine plant to build 3-cylinder engines for BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports cars

The new generation of 3-cylinder gasoline engines for the future BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car ( earlier post ) will be produced exclusively at the BMW engine plant at Hams Hall, near Birmingham.
