on Adopt-a-Port, an initiative that provides truck operators serving the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach with cleaner, carbon-negative renewable natural gas (RNG) to reduce emissions. Chevron’s funding will allow truck operators to subsidize the cost of buying new RNG-powered trucks.

The Loop-powered, long-haul trucks will work in demanding road operations, towing up to 80,000 pounds of freight throughout the San Diego and Los Angeles regions. Loop fuel cell range extenders will be integrated by TransPower into two Peterbilt 579 truck gliders in early 2019.

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen announced it will introduce a battery-electric SUV based on the I.D. This, as illustrated in the slide below taken from a presentation given by CFO Frank Witter earlier in the year, allows Volkswagen to drive the cost of the pack assembly much closer to that of the cell costs.

By joining the Consortium, the cost of conducting local automated bus projects should be reduced for each agency. The pilot projects will use full-sized, full-speed buses and enable Consortium members to collectively demonstrate and deploy automated technologies in live service environments.

About half of the levelized cost of retail station hydrogen can be attributed to hydrogen delivery, compression, and dispensing costs. Department of Energy (DOE) estimates that a dispensed cost of about $7/kg must be achieved to make FCEVs competitive with gasoline internal combustion engine vehicles in early FCEV markets.
