2019 Prius offered with new electric all-wheel drive system

Toyota is offering a new electric all-wheel drive system (AWD-e) on the facelifted 2019 Prius. The Prius AWD-e uses an independent electric, magnet-less rear motor (a Toyota first) to power the rear wheels from 0 to 6 mph, then when needed, up to 43 mph. FWD models will feature a Li-ion battery.

BMW introducing new X5 plug-in hybrid in Europe in 2019, US in 2020

BMW will introduce a new X5 plug-in hybrid, the BMW X5 xDrive45e iPerformance, in Europe in 2019, to be followed by a US model in 2020. The top speed when driving on electric power alone is increased from 120 to 140 km/h (75 mph to 87 mph). The top speed of the BMW X5 xDrive45e iPerformance is 235 km/h (146 mph).
