Two-year study in Canada finds large trucks disproportionately contribute to higher levels of black carbon pollution

Green Car Congress

Researchers found that air pollution levels right beside a major trucking route within a city were close to levels seen beside Highway 401, despite the road carrying less than one-tenth of the vehicle traffic. The study is published in the ACS journal Environmental Science & Technology. Jonathan M. Shairsingh, Robert M. 8b01914.

However, the resulting low gas prices, as well as clean air and climate policies, will promote further switching to gas from other more polluting energy sources, such as oil and coal. LNG imports reached 482 billion cubic meters in 2019, up 13% from 2018, and while this figure is expected to fall by around 4.2%

Aerial methane survey finds a fraction of point sources responsible for more than a third of California’s methane emissions

Green Car Congress

From August 2016 to October 2018, NASA, through a contract with the two state agencies, flew remote sensing equipment over selected portions of the state. To reduce methane’s impact on the climate, California has set a goal to cut overall emissions in the state by 40 from 2013 levels by 2030.

However, emissions do not just remain in conurbations; particles and gaseous pollutants can be transported thousands of kilometers by the wind. The aim is to better understand and predict the extent and impact of urban air pollution on Earth’s atmosphere. Previously, the researchers studied European conurbations from the air.

SGH2 building largest green hydrogen production facility in California; gasification of waste into H2

Green Car Congress

The SPEG process extracts all carbon from the waste feedstock, removes all particulates and acid gases, and produces no toxins or pollution. It not only solves our air quality and climate challenges by producing pollution-free hydrogen. That’s why our partnership with SGH2 is so important. This is game-changing technology.
