A123 Systems has been the recipient of a number of state and federal grants and tax incentives. In December 2009, A123 entered into an agreement establishing the terms and conditions of a $249.1-million The agreement also provides for reimbursement of pre-award costs incurred from 1 June 2009 to 30 November 2009.

There's a storm a-brewin' in Louisiana over alternative vehicle tax credits. In 2009, the state legislature passed Act 469 (PDF) which grants tax credits of up to $3,000 to anyone who purchases a low-emissions vehicle that runs on alternative fuel, "including but not limited to compressed.
