San Diego MTS deploys 77 propane buses; Ford F-550 and E-450 chassis with ROUSH fuel systems

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) rolled out its new fleet of 77 buses fueled by propane autogas. The paratransit vehicles travel 40,000 miles annually and the minibuses travel 45,000 miles annually. With the switch to propane, 35% of the Copley Park fleet is now operating on alternative fuel.

San Diego MTS Board approves two major CNG bus procurements with combined value of up to $343.4 million

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Board of Directors recently voted to approve two major bus procurements: up to 350 Gillig 40-foot low-floor CNG buses and up to 165 New Flyer 60-foot low-floor articulated CNG buses through 2017. MTS operates more than 90 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway.
