Volkswagen and Greece to create model island for climate-neutral mobility

The Volkswagen Group and Greece have agreed to establish a mobility system on the Mediterranean island of Astypalea. This alone will help to significantly reduce the vehicle fleet on the island. To that end, the current transport system on the island will transition to electric vehicles and renewable power generation.

Ships’ SO x will still remain considerably large compared to passenger car fleet even after the introduction of the global 2020 marine sulfur cap.
