GM announced that the Cadillac Converj extended range electric vehicle concept ( earlier post ) is moving forward as a production car that will be called the Cadillac ELR. Cadillac selected the name ELR to indicate the car’s electric propulsion technology, in keeping with the brand’s 3-letter international model naming convention.

Lyten says that its batteries will be safer in vehicles than conventional Li-ion batteries because Li-S does not contain oxygen from metallic oxides, which is what drives thermal runaway events that have plagued many EVs. The first model of BYD's F brand , codenamed "SF" internally, will be a hardcore off-road SUV, local media Cailian reported today, citing sources familiar with the matter. Last month, local media reported that the brand's internal code name is F brand. BYD subsequently confirmed it.
