Battery cost makes affordable Toyota EV unlikely, exec says

An entry-level Toyota EV is unlikely in the near future due to high battery costs, an executive said in a recently published interview with Autocar. And it definitely won’t be among the five new electric SUVs Toyota plans to launch by 2026, Autocar noted. Toyota has launched a C-HR plug-in hybrid in Europe, too.

2025 Lexus UX 300h AWD hybrid earns 42 mpg, starts around $40,000

The updated 2025 Lexus UX 300h has been given official EPA ratings, and for the popular all-wheel-drive version they’re a bit better than what the Toyota luxury brand estimated months ago. The UX 300h AWD now gets 42 mpg, up from 39 mpg, and the UX 300h in front-wheel-drive form gets 43 mpg, up 1 mpg.
