BYD has exclusively won cumulative orders to supply 1,002 battery-electric buses to the capital of Colombia, Bogotá. launched a public commercial tender covering diesel, CNG and electric technologies for 1,295 buses in August. In addition to Bogotá, Colombia’s capital city, BYD buses operate in Medellin, Cali and elsewhere.

UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, announced that a blend with its Green Jet Fuel powered the first commercial flight in Colombia operating with renewable jet fuel. A LAN Airbus A320 aircraft traveled with 174 passengers from Bogotá El Dorado International Airport to Santiago de Cali, Colombia.

Working with Ecopetrol, Solazyme’s technology will provide Colombia with renewable sources of oil and fuel that dramatically reduce carbon pollution by replacing petro-diesel with a ‘drop-in’ replacement made using algae.

The US Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is working with Ecopetrol, the largest oil company in Colombia, to process the residue from sugar cane and palm oil harvesting into fuel ethanol for blending with gasoline. Colombia has an abundance of biomass in the form of sugar cane.

Enel has installed around 5,000 charging stations in Italy, Spain, Romania, Greece, Chile, Colombia and Argentina. Enel is planning to use JuiceNet platform’s functions in all of its EV charging stations globally. For example, JuiceNet allows users to schedule EV charging when electricity from domestic solar rooftop systems is most abundant.
