The only by products are water and a fair degree of heat, the latter indicating a degree of inefficiency and wasted energy. Hence its supply would not be cheap, renewable nor sustainable in the long term. The cost of platinum makes hydrogen fuel cells an expensive proposition even in comparison to lithium-ion batteries.
