Panasonic Corporation has invested $30 million in Tesla Motors. The investment was made through the purchase of Tesla common stock in a private placement at a price of $21.15 The investment builds upon a multi-year collaboration of the two companies to accelerate the market expansion of the electric vehicle.

A study by researchers at the Institute of Transportation Studies, UC Davis finds that buyers of plug-in vehicles (PEVs) are substantially less satisfied with the dealer purchase experience than buyers of conventional vehicles—with the notable exception of Tesla buyers. In contrast, buyers ranked Tesla much more favorably.

Toyota and Tesla Motors, Inc. confirmed that their jointly-developed RAV4 electric vehicle ( earlier post ) will be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Inc. Tesla will build the electric powertrains at its production facility in Palo Alto, California and then ship them to TMMC for final assembly into the vehicle.

China is not just the world's largest overall new-car market, it's also now the largest market for plug-in electric cars. With its ambitious plan to build 500,000 electric cars per year beginning in 2018, it would seem to make sense that Tesla Motors would make China a priority.
