The first batteries could power vehicles to “neck-breaking” speeds of up to 14 mph. There were no recharging stations, so batteries needed to be replaced much more often. None of these problems remain today, and most EVs are as powerful as petrol-fueled vehicles. This prototype uses a lead-acid mixture. A New Composition.

The DS is powered by Zero Motorcycles’s Z-Force electric drivetrain. With a 4 kWh Li-ion pack, the DS has a top speed of 55 mph (90 km/h) and has a range of up to 50 miles (80 km). Recharge time is less than four hours. Zero has equipped its latest model with aggressive suspension, rugged wheels and dual sport tires.

The Cruze EV is equipped with a 31 kWh battery that generates maximum power of 150 kW. On a standard household 220-volt outlet, the Cruze EV can be fully recharged in 8 to 10 hours. The project is aimed at benefiting GM’s core vehicle electrification competencies, which include batteries, electric motors, power controls and charging.
