Toyota launches its first trial of Plug-in Prius models in the UK today, as it embarks on a three year leasing programme in collaboration with EDF Energy. Toyota’s trial of 20 plug-in hybrid versions of its Prius model to businesses and organisations in London is already resulting in ‘encouraging’, real-world data which shows the fuel and CO2 emission saving potential of the technology, the car maker says.

Car-sharing operator Zipcar and the Westminster City Council in London have launched a new car sharing club fleet that will initially include 20 hybrid vehicles and will offer members access to the country’s first all-electric car club vehicle, a Citroen c1. Other vehicles include a VW Caddy Maxi van and a Toyota Verso people carrier.
