Kia Motors to accelerate diversification of global mobility services

Kia Motors Corporation plans to expand its partnerships with global mobility companies to meet the needs of a diverse range of customers worldwide. Kia’s President and CEO Ho Sung Song shared the company’s strategy for global mobility during his visit to the company’s Sohari plant in Korea to review launch preparations for the new fourth-generation Kia Carnival. In Europe, Kia will collaborate with global partners to provide a customized mobility service for the region.

Kia introducing bi-fuel gasoline-LPG Picanto in Europe

Responding to growing customer demand in Europe for small cars with low running costs and low emissions, Kia is introducing a bi-fuel gasoline-LPG model to its Picanto small car range. Picanto LPG is powered by a special version of Kia’s three-cylinder 1.0-liter Kappa engine which produces 67 ps (66 hp, 49 kW) and 90 N·m (66 lb-ft) of torque. Led by strong growth in Spain and Italy, new car registrations in Europe’s Big 5 markets grew by 8.6% However, the largest growth figures were recorded in Italy and Spain, where April’s volumes grew by 12.3% While Italy moderated its growth, after an 18% rise in January, followed by 28% in February and 18% in March, Spain returned to positive growth after a 1% decrease posted in March. Ford, Mercedes, Hyundai, Kia and Fiat were the other big winners.
