ADB approves $240M to help Kazakhstan modernize transport, improve connectivity

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $240.3-million loan to help Kazakhstan modernize its transport system. Improved transport connectivity will help increase trade links between Kazakhstan and the markets in East Asia, the Caspian Sea region, and further to Europe.

Chevron approves next major Tengiz expansion project in Kazakhstan

Chevron Corporation announced that its 50% owned affiliate, Tengizchevroil (TCO), will proceed with the development of its Future Growth and Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP), which will increase crude oil production at the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan by about 260,000 barrels per day. FGP will use state-of-the-art sour gas injection technology, successfully developed and proven during TCO’s previous expansion in 2008, to enhance oil recovery.

CompactGTL will build a commercially deployed small-scale gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Kazakhstan. Up to 820,000 cubic meteres of associated gas that might otherwise be wasted will be fed through the plant every day to produce approximately 3,000 bpd of synthetic diesel. In a year, the plant is expected to monetize over 300 million cubic meters of gas. Kazakhstan offers considerable potential for CompactGTL’s proven small-scale GTL technology, the company said.

Groundbreaking in Turkmenistan for major synthetic gasoline plant; first full-scale Haldor Topsøe TIGAS facility

In August, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Ovadan-Depe near the capital of Ashgabad in Turkmenistan to launch the construction of a major plant focused on the conversion of natural gas into synthetic gasoline.
