First Drivable Chevy Volts Arrive in China

The first drivable Chevrolet Volts have arrived in China; China is one of the initial markets outside the United States to receive the Volt. The extended range electric vehicle will go on sale locally next year. The Volt will shuttle special guests to and from Shanghai’s Expo Park.

GM to Begin Sales of Volt in California, Other Lead Markets to Follow; Partnership with Utilities

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, GM announced that the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle will first be available late next year in California, with other lead markets to be named later. Volt production is scheduled to begin in late 2010. Pricing has not been announced. and seven other utilities in the project.

General Motors is adding two shifts and about 2,500 hourly and salaried jobs at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to build the new Chevrolet Malibu mid-size sedan and the next-generation Impala large sedan alongside the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera electric cars. Detroit-Hamtramck currently has 1,121 hourly and salaried employees.
