The new Ford Escape’s 1.6-liter liter EcoBoost engine has earned an EPA fuel economy rating of 33 mpg US (7.13 l/100 km) on the highway cycle—2 mpg better than the Honda CR-V and 5 mpg better than Toyota RAV4. All three engines in the new Escape are EPA-certified at 30-plus mpg on the highway.

The US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy today released the 2010 Fuel Economy Guide, which gives consumers information about estimated fuel costs and mileage standards for model year 2010 vehicles. For MY 2010, the Prius is the top fuel economy leader , with EPA ratings of 51/48 mpg city/highway.

The average fuel economy of the vehicles traded in was 15.8 mpg and the average fuel economy of vehicles purchased is 24.9 Cars purchased under the program are, on average, 19% above the average fuel economy of all new cars currently available. Honda came in fourth at 13.0%. Honda Civic.

In the past, we’ve discussed how the Honda Civic has gone through generational changes every 4-7 years. As someone who drove a Ford Escape Hybrid for seven years, it offered a lot of positives, including better fuel economy than the same model in an ICE version.
