In 2014 and 2015, Anheuser-Busch converted 160 diesel-fueled trucks in Houston and St. Louis to fleets powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines. Anheuser-Busch is transitioning more than 180 trucks—representing approximately 30% of its dedicated fleet—to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG).

Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have discovered a new way to train microbes to make n -butanol. The resulting biofuel, n -butanol, is a carbon-neutral fuel alternative that can be used in blends with diesel or gasoline. The results are reported in an open-access paper in the journal Communications Biology.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $8 million to communities in 21 states and Puerto Rico to reduce emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of diesel engines through the agency’s Diesel Emission Reduction Act ( DERA ) program. Louis Clean Cities is replacing six school busses. Florida and South Carolina.

The City and Borough of Juneau will receive funds to purchase new electric buses to replace aging diesel buses and associated charging infrastructure. Alabama A&M University will receive funds to purchase zero-emission electric buses, which will replace diesel buses that have reached the end of their useful life. City of Tucson.

Transitioning the fleet to all electric will eliminate emissions from diesel buses and emissions from shipping diesel fuel by barge 900 miles from Seattle. All of the replacements are diesel powered heavy-duty buses that are past their twelve-year life span. The buses will replace diesel buses that have exceeded useful life.
