The Nebraska segment of the pipeline would consist of five or six new pump stations and more than 275 miles of new pipeline.
A study of flex-fuel vehicles operating on different ethanol blends (E10, E20, E30, and E85) found that higher ethanol blend ratios provide better energy conversion within the engine. The research was funded in part by the Nebraska Corn Board and through the Hatch Act (University of Nebraska Agricultural Research Division).
The Powder River Basin encompasses more than 43,000 square miles and is located primarily in northeast Wyoming and southeast Montana, along with small areas of South Dakota and Nebraska. The recent resurgence is occurring predominantly in the Wyoming portion of the basin, which is also the main source of the Basin’s historical oil production.
The joint venture—Duonix, LLC—is actively developing the first project, which is a retrofit of the 50-million-gallon-per-year facility in Beatrice, Nebraska. The FFA contained in the feedstocks is an inhibitor for conversion of oil and fat into BDF, and must be removed with expensive purification and refining processes.
This study is especially timely as high commodity prices are driving conversion of marginal lands to annual crop production, reducing future flexibility. Scientists from the University of Wisconsin, University of Nebraska, Bard College and Trinity Christian College were part of the research. —Doug Landis.

ION Engineering Commercial Carbon Capture Design and Costing ION Engineering, LLC will provide a detailed design and cost estimate for a retrofitted, 300-megawatt-equivalent, commercial-scale CO 2 capture facility.
About 900 million gallons of ethanol produced at ADM’s dry mills in Columbus, Nebraska, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as its Decatur, Illinois, complex, is expected to be processed utilizing this technology, resulting in approximately 500 million gallons of SAF and other renewable hydrocarbons.
The purely mechanical pretreatment process also minimizes byproduct formation, thus reducing inhibitors and increasing sugar purity, which provides higher conversions from sugars into biofuels, biochemicals, and other bioproducts. Edeniq currently sells or licenses its technologies to biorefineries in the United States and Brazil.
The study led by University of Nebraska-Lincoln assistant professor Adam Liska, funded through a three-year, $500,000-grant from the US Department of Energy, used carbon dioxide measurements taken from 2001 to 2010 to validate a soil carbon model that was built using data from 36 field studies across North America. do not end at the farm.
The key to increasing oil accumulation in these studies was to unravel the details of the biochemical pathways involved in the conversion of carbon into fatty acids, the storage of fatty acids as oil, and the breakdown of oil in leaves. —Changcheng Xu, research team leader.
This facility will house energy research efforts including, but not limited to, studies of high efficiency combustion engines, biomass gasification kinetics, biochemical-enzymatic conversion of biomass, and carbon dioxide capture from sources including power plants and combustion engines; $10.3 for a nanoscience metrology facility; $6.9
other fleets; create vehicle conversion inspection criteria; and train and. alternative fuel vehicle conversions, equipment safety, and fueling. The Mid-America Collaborative for Alternative Fuels Implementation project will focus diversifying transportation fuel options in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri. Greater Portland.
This week we sit down with Cody Stolle, research assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and the assistant director at the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility, to discuss a lesser-known problem with EVs and road safety. It pertains to our conversation and is worth your time. As well as here.
Phase 1 of the Keystone pipeline from Hardisty to Steele City, Nebraska, and on to Patoka, Illinois, was completed in June 2010. Another prominent project is Tallgrass’ planned Pony Express conversion. Phase 2 of the Keystone pipeline, which extended the pipeline from Steele City to Cushing, was completed in February 2011.
