Audi has systematically refined the drive concept from the full-size SQ7 TDI for the new SQ5 TDI. It helps out whenever the exhaust gas flow provides too little energy to drive the turbocharger, i.e. when starting off and accelerating in the low-rev range up to 1,650 rpm. The new three-liter V6 exhaust end lies inside the 90° vee; the short gas paths and the twin scroll charger, which prevents unwanted interactions between the gas columns, guarantee spontaneous throttle response. This is due in part to the new tube guide in the dual-branch exhaust system that largely eliminates hum frequencies.
