Element 1 Corporation (e1NA), Zhejiang Methanol Hydrogen Technology (ZMHT) and Zhejiang Element 1 (e1China) have formed a joint venture company—Zhejiang Hydrogen One Energy Technology Co., e1China, an affiliate company of e1NA will have a 20% ownership interest in the JV. Tesla has agreed to pay a $1 million fine and install a solar roof project on top of its Fremont Factory in Northern California as part of a settlement with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD). Tesla is one of the most environmentally friendly companies in the world. Tesla settled with the organization on May 7th.

The case is similar to the 2017 plea deal that German automotive company Volkswagen took after admitting to using cheat devices in over 600,000 vehicles to pass emissions testing. It would then allow the vehicles to pollute beyond legal limits on public roadways. I’d love to hear from you!

The complaint alleges that nearly 600,000 diesel engine vehicles had illegal defeat devices installed that impair their emission control systems and cause emissions to exceed EPA’s standards, resulting in harmful air pollution. So far, recall discussions with the company have not produced an acceptable way forward.
