Haru Oni e-fuels demo plant in Chile officially opens

E-Fuels company HIF Global, together with partners, authorities, and community representatives, celebrated the production of the first liters of synthetic gasoline at the Haru Oni Demonstration Plant in southern Chile. Chile’s Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, headed the ceremony where a Porsche 911 was loaded with synthetic fuel.

VERBIO begins production of biomethane from corn stover in Iowa; first-large scale plant in US

VERBIO has commenced production at its new plant in Nevada, Iowa. The plant will generate biomethane from corn stover (maize straw), and is the first large-scale commercial plant in the US to use the technology developed by VERBIO. This turns driving vehicles into a form of climate protection.

Rolls-Royce releasing mtu rail engines for sustainable fuels

Rolls-Royce is releasing mtu rail engines for use with sustainable fuels. With synthetic diesel fuels of the EN15940 standard, CO 2 emissions can be reduced by up to 100% compared to fossil diesel. Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO or renewable diesel), which is already commercially available today, reduces CO 2 emissions by up to 90%.

Germany to award €80M for construction of electrolysis plants for transport sector

Germany’s Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) will award up to €80 million to support the construction of electrolysis plants for the production of green hydrogen for the transport sector. Two Alstom hydrogen trains enter passenger service in Lower Saxony; 14 more ordered

Alstom held a world premiere event on Sunday celebrating its Coradia iLint hydrogen fuel cell train ( earlier post ) rolling into service in Lower Saxony, Germany. From today onwards, two such trains will enter commercial service according to a fixed timetable. The new trains will be fueled at a mobile hydrogen filling station.
