For instance, four proposed high-voltage lines totaling 600 kilometers along the seam of regional networks in the upper Midwest could connect at least 28 gigawatts of wind and solar.

In case of power outage at home, the DC pins in the charger can send juice back into the house, keeping the lights on. Just as there is an Apple ecosystem, so with home and EV battery systems you could wind up with a Ford setup, a Tesla setup, or a VW setup. Even so, world events are putting wind in the sails for backup power.

After you connect your car’s battery to a DC rapid charging station, AC or alternating current from the grid is converted and stored inside the vehicle in the form of DC or direct current. For this purpose, you either have an AC-DC converter inside the EV or a built-in converter inside the charger.
