Specifically, the researchers used synchrotron-based micro X‐ray computed tomography (CT) to visualize and to quantify the water distribution within gas diffusion layers subject to a thermal gradient. This type of flow, which is due to the evaporation and condensation of water, is known as phase-change-induced (PCI) flow.
