The Los Angeles Harbor Commission recently approved up to $44.2 million in Port funding toward the 2009 Clean Truck Incentive Program at the Port of Los Angeles. This initiative follows a 2008 incentive program that put into service more than 2,200 trucks that currently meet or exceed 2007 US EPA emission standards.

The State of California has the highest ratio of car ownership anywhere in the world, and in Los Angeles, almost 50% of the greenhouse gas emissions come for the transportation sector. Cities will review and revise where appropriate, local city building codes, standards, ordinances, etc. to help encourage adoption of PEVs.

Wabtec and BNSF Railway are partnering on a new biofuel project aimed at quantifying the impact of alternative fuels on emissions, durability, and performance in Wabtec locomotives. BNSF will operate the locomotives between Barstow and Los Angeles, California. Earlier post.).
