FedEx Express Canada welcomed its first 50 BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric delivery vehicles at an event in Toronto. BrightDrop Zevo 600 in Toronto This initial fleet of 50 electric vehicles (EVs) will service Toronto, Montreal, and Surrey. BrightDrop is manufacturing the Zevo 600s at GM’s CAMI Assembly plant in Ontario.

As of 2026, Audi will only launch all-electric models onto the global market, gradually phasing out production of its combustion models by 2033. Based on this clear decision made as part of its Vorsprung 2030 corporate strategy, Audi is now taking steps to prepare its global facilities for the production of all-electric cars.

Volkswagen Group deliveries of all-electric vehicles (BEVs) rose by 42% in Q1 2023 compared to the prior-year period, which was hit harder by supply chain issues. Europe was the biggest growth driver here with an increase of 68% to 98,300 vehicles. BEVs made up 6.9% of total deliveries in this period, compared with 5.2%

The sales growth was mainly led by the company’s fully electric cars. Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up of chargeable models, with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain, made up 41% of all Volvo cars sold globally (67,403 units) in Q1 2023. The share of fully electric cars (12,621 units) during the period ended up at 18%.

In Tokyo, Subaru Corporation today unveiled its new battery electric vehicle (BEV) SOLTERRA; SOLTERRA will make its US debut at the LA Auto Show later this month. The vehicle was jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru; Toyota’s version is the bZ4X, which the company unveiled last month in Japan ( Earlier post.)

The City of New York will invest $420 million in electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and alternative fuels to accelerate the transition to an all-electric municipal vehicle fleet. All light-duty, medium-duty, and non-emergency heavy-duty vehicles will be converted to electric by 2035.

The estimated annual fuel costs for model year (MY) 2019 all-electric light-duty vehicles are the lowest of all the different vehicle technologies, ranging from a low of $500 to a high of $900 per year, according to the US Department of Energy (DOE). All annual vehicle fuel costs are rounded to the nearest $50.
