US petroleum demand falls 2.3% in February, but gasoline demand rises

The steep decline in residual fuel demand related to users switching to natural gas. Gasoline deliveries were up 0.9%, the first increase in demand since February 2011. Consumer demand for gasoline is still not strong, but the slight increase is notable. Total petroleum deliveries (a measure of demand) fell 2.3% to average 10.4

ASTM ballot greenlights approval of ATJ-SPK biojet from alcohol; Gevo 1st commercial test flight with Alaska Airlines

As previously announced, Alaska Airlines is now poised to fly the first commercial test flight using Gevo’s renewable ATJ-SPJ fuel. Gevo is preparing the shipment of ATJ to Alaska Airlines for this first flight. Alaska Airlines will work with the Federal Aviation Administration to schedule the flight using Gevo’s ATJ.

API: US petroleum demand edges up in May

Gasoline demand was up 0.4%, but, for the first five months of 2012, was 0.6% US refinery production of all four major products—gasoline, distillate, jet fuel and residual fuels—outpaced domestic demand.
