I knew I wanted something for her that was cheap to maintain, had a reliable automatic transmission, came with cruise control, AC. The gasoline engine only runs in reversing to power the batteries. That 10 years is now only applicable for the Generation 3 made from 2010-2015, but at least there are options.

Low gasoline prices and pent-up consumer demand will combine to drive new car and light truck sales to an estimated 16.94 million in 2015, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association. Lower gasoline prices accelerate that shift. On the downside, small and mid-sized cars are likely to face a tougher market in 2015.

With fuel prices low throughout 2015, Americans bought more new cars, but many of them were less-efficient SUVs and crossovers. The low oil prices that boosted new-car sales and caused average fuel-economy gains to sputter last year may be here to stay, for a while at least.

Between 2006 and 2015, California’s GDP per capita grew by almost $5,000 per person, nearly double the growth experienced by the US as a whole. Job growth between 2006 and 2015 in California outpaced rates experienced prior to 2006, and outpaced total US employment gains by 27%. in emissions from on-road vehicles. —Adam Fowler.

In June 2015, Saudi Arabia pumped a record 10.564 million barrels a day, a record level. The crude is so cheap it’s pretty much free for them, the margins are going to be massive. We see refining margins weakening on worsening diesel fundamentals, particularly east of Suez, though gasoline should be supportive.

During the late innings of the ICE-age (as in the Internal Combustion Engine age) it has become clear that feeding gasoline and diesel to the next billion new cars is not going to be easy, or cheap. By contrast, at 25 miles per $3 gallon of gasoline, those miles cost 12 cents each. New cars in 2015 get 25 mpg.)

Gasoline is too cheap. If you add up all the US battery capacity planned between now and 2015 announced as a result of ARRA funding, Wright said, you find about 4 million units of capacity.
