The Zephyr 7 is a solar/battery powered electric UAV with a wing span of 70 feet (22.5 This latest flight was undertaken in the Southern Hemisphere winter so the aircraft had to show it could remain operational through the longer nights, re-charge sufficiently in the shorter periods of daylight and cope with the harsher weather conditions.

Check out the new Nissan Leaf on video: You’ve got to love the fact that Nissan had balls and the vision to bank their future on full on electric vehicles, leapfrogging their Japanese competition Honda and Toyota whose timid and safe bet on hybrids has already marked them as bridge technology car makers. Really Ford?

The Cadillac Converj extended-range electric vehicle Concept uses the Voltec platform. In April 2009, Consumer Reports recommended only 17% of the GM cars they tested while they recommended 70% of the Fords. At this point it looks like only the Opel Insignia will be acting as inspiration for another vehicle.

The Karma, a luxury four-passenger sedan, can be recharged by plugging it in; it can then be driven on power from a battery alone for 50 miles. After that, an onboard gasoline generator kicks on to recharge the battery, extending the range by 250 miles between fill-ups. The Karma can be refueled quickly.)
