Benchmark: China dominates Li-ion battery supply chain

China dominates the global Li-ion battery supply chain to the extent that removing the country in favor of European or North American alternatives will be difficult, according to analysis by Benchmark Minerals Intelligence. Despite mining less than 10% of the global supply, China refines 95% of it.

Water purification technology company Aquatech has been awarded a contract for a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant for a coal-to-chemicals facility in Hailer in Inner Mongolia. The plant will treat 2400 m 3 /day (634,000 gallons US/day) of wastewater and reuse 92.5% before taking it to the Brine Concentrator and subsequent evaporation pond.

$1.1B Huineng SNG plant goes on-stream transforming coal into natural gas in China

Haldor Topsoe A/S announced that Huineng, a large-scale SNG (Substitute Natural Gas) plant, went successfully on-stream near the city of Ordos, located in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China. An agreement with Xingtai in the province of Heibei has been signed that will allow Huineng to supply LNG to run local buses in the city.

Sinopec Xinjiang Kuqa green hydrogen pilot project enters operation

As China’s first green hydrogen demonstration project of over 10,000-tonne capacity and based on solar power, it is expected to produce 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year that will be supplied to Sinopec’s Tahe refinery. First Solar Signs MoU for 2GW Solar Power Plant in China

First Solar signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese government to build a 2 gigawatt solar power plant in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, China.
