The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has established a 2050 net-zero carbon dioxide emission goal for international aviation. The agreement is exciting, in part because ICAO has stopped pretending to be a global climate cop. Countries will develop national measures to cut emissions consistent with ICAO’s goal.

Energy Ministers from around the world have agreed to proposals to help speed up the global deployment of carbon capture and storage. At a meeting in the United Arab Emirates, Ministers at the Clean Energy Ministerial endorsed recommendations from the Carbon Capture, Use and Storage (CCUS) Action Group chaired by Australia and the UK.

According to the latest available figures from the GECF Global Gas Outlook 2050, natural gas production in the Central Asian Republic is set to increase by 78% to reach the level of more than 141 billion cubic metres (bcm) by 2050, at a remarkable annual growth rate of 1.9%. It is headquartered in Doha, Qatar.

At the end of June, the US signed the Statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency ( IRENA ), thereby increasing the number of countries participating in the organization to 136. Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is the location for the interim headquarters of the new agency.
