PNNL study finds 2028 grid resource adequacy likely sufficient for high EV penetration; managed charging strategies can double adequacy

Green Car Congress

A new study of the impact of high EV adoption on the Western US power grid by a team from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has found that 2028 grid resource adequacy—from generation through transmission—is likely to be sufficient for high EV penetration.

How EVs Are Reducing Carbon (CO2) Emissions

Blink Charging

Another study found that if people choose to charge their EVs during times when there’s less demand on the power grid, we could cut emissions by another 18% – and maybe even allow EVs to support the grid. Let’s not forget our carbon footprint.

NASA awards $16.5M to four teams for additional research into reducing aircraft fuel consumption, emissions and noise

Green Car Congress

The work is funded by NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate in Washington. In its earlier assessment, the team found that the SUGAR Volt concept (which adds an electric battery gas turbine hybrid propulsion system) can reduce fuel burn by greater than 70% and total energy use by 55% when battery energy is included.
