For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Of course, EVs that arent designed for battery swaps wont use it, and plug-in hybrids wont need it. At this early stage in what amounts to a global revolution, that is to be expected. not an issue.
