Ford has announced official EPA mileage figures for its latest plug-in hybrid, the FusionEnergi. Set to join the C-Max Energi in Ford's range, the new plug-in Fusion becomes America's most fuel-efficient sedan, with a rating of 108 MPGe in city driving.

The new Ford C-MAX Energiplug-in hybrid ( earlier post ), which goes on sale in the US this year, is now EPA- certified at 100 miles-per-gallon equivalent (MPGe) combined city and highway, and 108 MPGe in the city. Ford projects that its FusionEnergiplug-in hybrid, due out in early 2013, will deliver 100+ MPGe combined.
Researchers at Sandia National Laboratories’ Z pulsed-power accelerator have produced a significant output of fusion neutrons, using a method fully functioning for only little more than a year. In September, GM’s plug-in hybrid Chevrolet Volt (2,851 units sold) and Toyota’s plug-in hybrid Prius PHV (1,652 units sold) continued to lead sales in the US of plug-in vehicles from major OEMs. Although the C-MAX hybrid has gone on sale, the plug-in hybrid C-MAX Energi and FusionEnergi are not yet in showrooms.
