According to those in the know at Automotive News , Ford is slashing the required dealer training on electron eaters in half, while also cutting the number of EV chargers a retailer must install. Dealers apparently argued that slow Level 2 chargers were more than sufficient to keep new EVs full of juice for test drives.&

The good news here is that the screen is huge and easy to read. The bad news is that some of the menus are a bit tricky to decipher if you’re new to the brand – I found myself performing an unintended function a bit too often. Another annoying quirk involved the infotainment system and its learning curve. Save the AM radio!

DBT’s Quick Chargers [pictured] can juice up an EV to around 80% of its battery capacity in 20-30 minutes but at 60% of the cost of other rapid chargers available. ChargePoints Services (CPS) has completed a distribution deal with France-based DBT for its electric vehicle fast chargers.

The big EV news of the month was the first Tesla S deliveries. Given the distance most commuters travel, charging at level 1 at work enables most drivers to get back all the juice expended getting to work. Level 1 charging has the added benefit of minimal grid impact, minimal cost for equipment and minimal running cost.
