UPS has begun a 90-day demonstration trial of the Electric Vehicles International (EVI) walk-in van (EVI-WI). The EVI-WI is built on a Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) glider equipped with a Utilimaster body. The vehicle demonstration will begin in Sacramento, followed by San Francisco and concluding in Reno.

Separately, Evatran just announced that the City of Sacramento has joined its Apollo Trial Program to test wireless charging technology on its own electric vehicles (EVs). Evatran plans to have over twenty installations as part of the Apollo Trial Program. Penetration in 2012 was only a fraction of 1% of vehicles sold.

Each State agency leasing vehicles from DGS is now able to see how much fuel their leased vehicles are using because it is unbundled from their monthly rate, thereby enabling them to reduce costs by actively managing their fuel usage internally.
