VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) are beginning testing of the Soletair demo plant, which uses air-captured carbon dioxide to produce renewable fuels and chemicals. Proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis is used for hydrogen production. Phase 1: Renewable energy.

In their paper, the SwRI researchers reported that the conversion to D-EGR improved engine efficiency and fuel consumption at least 10% across the performance map, with some operating conditions seeing substantially higher improvements. An SwRI-designed and patented mixer is used to improve cylinder-to-cylinder and temporal EGR imbalance.
