SB 100 accelerates the existing renewable energy targets to 60 percent RPS by 2030, and requires retail energy sellers to plan, model, and invest over the next 28 years to reach the 100% clean, zero carbon, and renewable energy target. Low income and communities of color are and continue to be the most impacted by climate chaos.

Net proceeds from sustainable financing will be invested and expended in four areas: Clean Transportation – Designing, developing and manufacturing zero-emissions transportation, focusing on battery-electric vehicles and the batteries that power them across the full range of design, development, manufacturing and end-of-life.

The grant will fulfill a key mandate of SB 1275, the Charge Ahead California Initiative, enacted last year to make clean transportation more widely available, particularly in low and moderate-income neighborhoods. The funding for the project comes from fees collected under the state’s climate change law, AB 32.
