Vale and GM sign long-term nickel supply agreement in Canada

Vale Canada Limited, a subsidiary of Vale S.A., and General Motors signed a term sheet for the long-term supply of battery grade nickel sulfate from Vale’s proposed plant at Bécancour, Québec, Canada. Vale’s Sudbury operation in Canada produces around 65,000 metric tons of nickel annually.

General Motors to recall all additional Bolt EVs, through MY 2022, for battery replacement; $1B cost

General Motors is voluntarily expanding the current Chevrolet Bolt EV recall ( earlier post ) to cover the remaining 2019 and all 2020-2022 model year vehicles, including the new Bolt EUV. GM will replace defective battery modules in Chevrolet Bolt EVs and EUVs with new modules, with an expected additional cost of approximately $1 billion.
