With oil at $100/barrel, the replacement of these generators or their hybridization with renewables was just beginning to take off. In Brazil, ethanol has been competing against subsidized gasoline that sells at the pump for the equivalent of $65 per barrel, so the impact on ethanol from the oil price fall so far is likely to be small.
