Stadler wins contracts for up to 120 battery-powered trains, 25 hydrogen trains

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has awarded Stadler a framework agreement for up to 120 battery-powered trains. The signing of the framework agreement and the initial order for 16 FLIRT battery is expected to take place in autumn 2023. The vehicle has an operating range of around 100 kilometers.

Universal Hydrogen successfully completes first flight of hydrogen fuel cell powered regional airliner

Universal Hydrogen has flown a 40-passenger regional airliner using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. In this first test flight, one of the airplane’s turbine engines was replaced with Universal Hydrogen’s fuel cell-electric, megawatt-class powertrain. The other remained a conventional engine for safety of flight.

Volvo Trucks testing hydrogen-powered electric trucks on public roads above the Arctic Circle

Volvo Trucks is now testing hydrogen-powered electric trucks on public roads above the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden; ice, wind and lots of snow make an ideal testing environment. Volvo’s hydrogen-powered fuel cell trucks will use two fuel cells with a capacity to generate 300 kW of electric power.

Mercedes-Benz presents prototype Unimog with hydrogen combustion engine; multi-power distribution

At this year’s demopark open-air exhibition, Mercedes-Benz is presenting a prototype of the Unimog based on the U 430 with hydrogen-powered combustion engine as part of the publicly funded “WaVe” project. The hydrogen engine is provided by Keyou and is equipped with H2PFI injectors made by Hoerbiger.
