EPA proposes new rulemaking for sharp cuts in methane emissions from oil and gas industry

Oil and natural gas operations also emit smog-forming volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and toxic air pollutants such as benzene that harm public health. In addition to these benefits, EPA estimates that from 2023 to 2035, the proposal would reduce VOC emissions by 12 million tons and hazardous air pollution by 480,000 tons.

EPA announces $46M for latest Diesel Emissions Reduction Act funding

Nonprofit organizations may apply if they provide pollution reduction or educational services to diesel fleet owners or promote air quality and clean transportation. Region 10 (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington) will accept applications requesting up to $1,000,000 in grant funds. Applicants may apply until 16 March 2021.

EPA issues final air quality permits to Shell for Arctic oil and gas exploration; fleet emissions reduced 50+% from 2010 permits

EPA Region 10 has issued final air quality permits to Shell for oil and gas exploration drilling in the Alaska Arctic. The permits set limits on air pollution from these vessels. EPA Region 10 issued similar OCS/PSD air permits to Shell in 2010. EPA Region 10 revised the permits to address the issues raised by the Board.
