Audi introducing V2I Traffic Light Information service in Europe

Audi is introducing the vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) service “Traffic Light Information” in Europe. From July, Audi will network new models with the traffic lights in Ingolstadt/Germany; further European cities will follow from 2020 onwards. In the US, Audi customers have been using this service since late 2016.

San Francisco orders 175 light rail cars from Siemens for $648M; option for 85 more

San Francisco’s Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has awarded Siemens a contract to deliver an initial 175 light rail cars for its Muni transit system at a value of US$648 million. Siemens, which beat CAF for the contract, will deliver a newly-developed light rail car based on its Model S200 for the San Francisco order.

Auto Alliance urges EPA to withdraw premature Final Determination on light-duty GHG regulations, resume Midterm Evaluation process with NHTSA

The Auto Alliance has sent a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt requesting that the US Environmental Protection Agency withdraw the Final Determination on the Appropriateness of the Model Year 2022-2025 Light-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards under the Midterm Evaluation which EPA announced on 13 January 2017.

Opel to begin publishing WLTP fuel consumption numbers in Q2 2016; improving SCR for NOx reductions

California DMV authorizes Baidu to test driverless vehicles in Sunnyvale

The California Department of Motor Vehicles issued a permit to Baidu USA LLC, authorizing the company to test driverless vehicles on public roads in Sunnyvale. Regulations allowing for light-duty autonomous delivery vehicles weighing less than 10,001 pounds were approved on 16 December 2019.

Li-S battery company OXIS Energy reports 300 Wh/kg and 25 Ah cell, predicting 33 Ah by mid-2015, 500 Wh/kg by end of 2018

The OXIS scientific team expects to achieve a goal of an energy density in excess of 400 Wh/kg by the end of 2016 and in excess of 500Wh/kg by the end of 2018. OXIS CEO Huw Hampson-Jones says that the company is on schedule to release commercial cells for use in applications in the USA and Europe in 2015.
