People might be bored reading about the Prius but a review on four Priuses (2004, 2005, two 2006s) that my family owns that ran a total of 913k km (570k miles) should be interesting, right? I found a a 2004 with 247k km (154k miles) on the clock. Priuses can burn oil. Two out of our four Priuses burn oil. That is normal.

Seaboard Energy has chosen Haldor Topsoe’s HydroFlex hydroprocessing fuel technology to produce renewable diesel from tallow and soybean oil. Topsoe has been developing and refining HydroFlex technology since 2004. The HTCR is a heat-exchange steam reformer in which process gas is heated primarily by flue gas.

The process takes agricultural feedstocks such as animal fat, crop seed oil and restaurant grease, and converts them into drop-in liquid hydrocarbon fuels. The process also converts the same agricultural feedstocks into solvents and diluents. Bressler made his initial discovery in 2004 with funding from an NSERC Discovery grant.

This is due to raw, externally premixed fresh charge comprising air, fuel and lube oil being short-circuited into the exhaust during the scavenging process. Initially, they used an off-the-shelf, synthetic-blend, TCW3-rated two-stroke engine oil. —Faiz and Gautam (2004). —were carried over from the production engine.
