Velozzi Will Use Capstone Microturbines in Supercar and Crossover Extended Range Electric Vehicles

Velozzi, a Los Angeles-based car designer and manufacturer, will integrate Capstone Turbine’s C65 and C30 microturbines into its electric supercar and a crossover vehicle, respectively. The supercar is designed to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just three seconds and reach a top speed of over 200 mph, according to Velozzi.

Hyundai delivers keys to first Tucson Fuel Cell customer; leasing for $499/mo, with unlimited free fueling; first drive

Hyundai is initially offering the Tucson Fuel Cell to customers in the Los Angeles/Orange County region for a 36-month term at $499 per month, with $2,999 down. Hyundai’s position on fuel cell vehicles is that they alleviate the limitations of traditional battery-electric vehicles with respect to range and refueling (recharging) time.

With output of 170 hp (112 kW) and maximum torque of 184 lb-ft (250 N·m), the car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under nine seconds (preliminary).

Fisker reveals production-intent version of Fisker Ocean at LA Auto Show

Fisker revealed its Fisker Ocean electric SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Fisker estimates that the EPA range of the front-wheel-drive, single-motor Fisker Ocean Sport will be 250 miles on a single charge, using a lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery cell chemistry in Touring Range packs to be supplied by CATL.

BMW ActiveE available for leasing in US in Fall 2011

The BMW ActiveE ( earlier post ) will be available for lease in the metropolitan markets of Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, New York and Boston as well as the state of Connecticut beginning in Fall 2011 for $499 per month for 24 months with a down payment $2,250. Top speed is electronically limited at around 90 mph.
