Overall, traffic congestion has increased globally during the last decade, and the 239 cities (57%) TomTom included in the new Traffic Index report had increased congestion levels between 2018 and 2019, with only 63 cities showing measurable decreases. Globally, there’s a long road to travel until congestion levels are brought under control.

Global electric vehicle sales increased by more than 50% from 2016 to about 1.2 The growth has been greatest in China, which is home to half of the global electric market and 11 of the 25 top electric vehicle market cities.

The mayors of London, Paris, Los Angeles, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Quito, Vancouver, Mexico City, Milan, Seattle, Auckland and Cape Town have pledged to procure only zero-emission buses from 2025 and ensure that a major area of their city is zero emission by 2030. Lead by example by procuring zero emission vehicles for city fleets.
