Volkswagen has launched its second plug-in hybrid based on a high-volume production model: the Passat GTE, available either as a sedan or Variant (wagon)—the first plug-in hybrid from Volkswagen to be sold as either. In terms of the brand, the Passat GTE is a basic building block in Volkswagen’s electric motoring strategy.
